KUALA LUMPUR (March  28): Perak Transit Bhd is acquiring two parcels of land near Universiti Teknologi Petronas in Tronoh to develop an integrated bus terminal complex.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Perak Transit said its 99.89%-owned subsidiary, The Combined Bus Services Sdn Bhd, is buying the land from Pasti Kenari Sdn Bhd for RM7.97 million.

The purchase consideration will be financed through internally-generated funds of the group, it said.

Perak Transit said the proposed acquisition is in line with the overall strategy of the group to develop integrated public transportation terminals in various parts of Perak.

Subject to the completion of the proposed acquisition, the group plans to develop the integrated public transportation terminal in Tronoh in the next five years.

Perak Transit intends to replicate its Terminal AmanJaya integrated public transportation terminal model located in Meru Raya, Ipoh to the Tronoh site.

At this juncture, the group said that it is unable to determine the construction cost for the terminal to be built on the land as the construction project is still at its preliminary stage and the approvals have yet to be obtained from the authorities

Perak Transit’s share price ended today up 2.5 sen (10.4%) at 26.5 sen, for a market capitalisation of RM302.88 million.
