IPOH (June 24): The Pakatan Harapan-led (PH) Perak government has sacked seven executive officers of a government-linked company (GLC) who appointed under the previous government for excessive spending of the company’s fund.

Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the seven executive officers were fired following the resignation of the company's chief executive officer (CEO).

Without disclosing the name of the GLC, Ahmad Faizal said the dismissal would save the state RM150,000 in expenditures a month, or about RM1.6 million per year.

“What I saw in the company 'was a bit ridiculous', because it is not make much profit but the overhead is high and has many officers who are not necessary,” he told reporters after attending PH’s Hari Raya do here today.

Ahmad Faizal said the state government would think of the best way to solve the huge expenditure issue.

"I will not disclose the name of the GLC company until I solve this problem.

"As mentioned in the PH manifesto, there are also many things that we will table at the state assembly, so it will be public knowledge anyway," he said.

Meanwhile, he said the Perak state executive council members would use the same official vehicles used by those in the previous government.

"I have decided not to purchase any new cars this year, in fact, there will be auctions held for cars from the GLC company, as many of them are not needed,” he added.
