KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 6): The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is currently awaiting instructions from the Attorney General’s (AG) Chamber on further actions toward the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) case.

In a written reply to Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua today, the Ministry of Home Affairs said PDRM’s investigation paper related to 1MDB has been presented to the AG’s Chamber for a few times and the public prosecutor had also reverted with instructions for further actions.

“PDRM has executed investigations instructed by the AG’s Chamber and referred back these investigation papers to the AG’s Chamber. Up until now, PDRM is still waiting for further advice and instruction from the AG’s Chamber,” the reply read.

Pua was asking for the progress of investigation towards Datuk Shahrol Halmi and other related management executives allegedly involved in the 1MDB scandal, which were recommended by the Public Account Committee (PAC), a bipartisan committee under the Malaysian Parliament.

“Has the case been closed and none of the parties were being found guilty?” Pua asked.

In April last year, the PAC, chaired by BN lawmaker Datuk Seri Hassan Arifin, tabled a 106-page report to Dewan Rakyat, highlighting governance issues on fund management and recommended Shahrol to be held responsible.

The committee, which Pua is also a member of, suggested 1MDB’s advisory board, chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to be abolished and all 1MDB assets be transferred to the Minister of Finance Inc.
