KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 8): Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM), the holding company of Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (P1), together with its partners Green Packet Bhd (Green Packet) and SK Telecom Co Ltd (SK Telecom) has announced a new line-up of board members and key management personnel for P1, to be helmed by TM group chief executive officer (CEO) Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, who will serve as P1’s new chairman.

According to a joint statement released this evening by TM, Green Packet and SK Telecom, Zamzamzairani will be joined on the board by TM chief strategy officer Dr Farid Mohamed Sani, TM executive vice president for consumer Imri Mokhtar, TM chief technology and innovation officer Giorgio Migliarina, SK Telecom executive vice-president and chief growth officer Park Jung Ho, Green Packet Bhd’s new CEO Tan Kay Yen, and P1’s CEO and managing director Puan Chan Cheong.

Meanwhile, Puan, who will be leading the new P1 management team, will be assisted by TM executive vice president of SME Azizi A Hadi as chief operating officer, while Nora Junita Mohd Hussaini will head P1’s finance and corporate services as its chief financial and corporate affairs officer.

SK Telecom global tech division vice-president Shim Sang Soo will take on the role as P1’s new chief technology officer, while Ti Lian Seng will oversee its IT services as chief information officer, with Selina Chean as its new chief human capital officer.

Kelvin Lee and Tony Ha Min Yong will also be joining the team as the chief sales and service officer and the chief business development officer, respectively, while TM group strategy and centralised organisation programme management vice-president Michael Parker will lead P1’s programme management office for LTE business as its programme director.

“The new P1 Board and rigorously selected management line-up of capable executives from TM, Green Packet, SK Telecom and P1 form a strong organisation that is expected to fully capitalise on partnership synergies and execute P1’s future business strategies and entry into the mobile LTE space,” the statement read.

“The collaboration will enable TM to deliver the next generation of converged communication services and accelerate the roll-out of LTE services via access to suitable spectrum assets, leveraging both SK Telecom’s expertise and P1’s existing customer base and the strong base of LTE upgradeable WiMAX sites,” it added.

TM completed its investment in P1, together with Green Packet and SK Telecom, on Sept 30. TM is now the largest shareholder of P1 with a 55.3% stake, and a substantial shareholder of Green Packet and SK Telecom with 31.1% and 13.6% stakes, respectively.
