KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 12): Ornapaper Bhd announced today the temporary closure of the packaging manufacturer’s factory within Melaka’s Batu Berendam Industrial Area, after 11 employees of the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary Quantum Rhythm Sdn Bhd tested positive for Covid-19.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing today, Ornapaper said the Health Ministry had yesterday (Wednesday, Aug 11) issued a notice to the management of the factory located along Jalan Perindustrian Bachang Baru 3 to close the factory’s Block B production area from Friday (Aug 6) to Aug 20, 2021 for sanitisation purposes.

"Other divisions and plants of the company are not affected. The management of Ornapaper wishes to affirm that the health and safety of our employees and stakeholders is our highest priority, and we will remain vigilant and work with the Health Ministry to take the necessary protective measures. 

"Management does not expect any material impact on its operations and financial performance.

"The company will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on the matter, where applicable,” Ornapaper said.

At 5pm today, Ornapaper’s share price fell two sen or 1.43% to close at RM1.38, giving the company a market capitalisation of about RM103.85 million.

Ornapaper has 75.25 million issued shares.
