KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 3): Stocks in the oil and gas sector advanced Monday as crude oil prices rose.

On Bursa Malaysia, the energy index rose 1.53% or 13.67 points to 905.82.

Oil prices surged in early trading on Monday after the United States and China agreed a truce in their trade conflict and ahead of a meeting by producer club OPEC this week that is expected to result in a supply cut, according to Reuters.

U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were at $52.60 per barrel at 0032 GMT, up $1.67 per barrel, or 3.2 percent from their last close, it said.

International Brent crude oil futures were up $1.55 per barrel, or 2.6 percent, at $61.01 a barrel, it said.

Among the energy stocks that rsoe were Bumi Armada Bhd, Carimin Petroleum Bhd, Dayang Enterprise Holdings Bhd, Deleum Bhd, Dialog Group Bhd, Hengyuan Refining Company Bhd, Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd, KNM Group Bhd and Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd.
