KUALA LUMPUR (May 14): The Ministry of Finance (MoF) said today in a statement that has gone viral, that the rumours stating Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be abolished effective June 1, is not true.
In a brief statement, MoF also said rumours that no new tax will be imposed for the first two years of the new administration under Pakatan Harapan, were also untrue.
“For now, the government has yet to fixed the date to abolish the GST,” the statement said.
“Therefore, all traders that have registered for GST must comply with the existing law and implement the GST, as has been previously announced,” the ministry added.
