SINGAPORE (Oct 16): Poor maintenance of the stormwater sump pits led to the major North-South Line (NSL) tunnel flooding incident two weekends ago, said Singapore Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan in a public briefing on the matter.

Khaw said there were standard anti-flooding systems with huge stormwater sump pits which could hold more than 5,000 cubic metres of rainfall.
