KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 18): Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Bhd, which commenced its first trading day as a constituent of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, saw its shares rise as much as 12 sen or 2.4% to RM5.10 this morning.

However, Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd, which also commenced trading as a KLCI constituent this morning, saw its shares fall as much as down 30 sen or 0.3% to RM99.70. Nestle shares had hit an all-time high of RM102.40 on Dec 7, 2017.

To recap, FTSE Russell and Bursa Malaysia announced on Nov 30 the two changes to the constituents of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI, following the semi-annual review of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Index Series. Nestle and Press Metal replaced British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd and IJM Corp Bhd in the index.

All constituent changes take effect today and the next review will take place in June 2018.

Part of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Index Series, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI is widely used by investors as the primary benchmark for the Malaysian market, including derivatives through FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Futures (FKLI) and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Options (OKLI). The benchmarks are also tracked by a number of index-linked financial products, such as exchange traded funds.

At 10.37am, Press Metal was up 7 sen or 1.4% to RM5.05 with 2.04 million shares traded, while Nestle was down at RM99.70 with 25,000 shares changing hands.
