KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 16): The Rantau state seat in Negeri Sembilan has been declared as vacant by the Election Court in Seremban, paving for the way for a by-election.

The decision by the Court this morning nuffilied the result for the Rantau state seat in the May 9 polls, which then had been won by Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

The petition to nullify the result had been filed by PKR’s Dr S. Streram.

This morning, Justice Azimah Omar ruled there is no written law or requirement for a candidate, his seconder or proposer to have passes to enter the nomination centre.

Streram filed the application after Election Commissions returning officer Amino Agus refused him into the nomination centre on April 28, on the basis of he not having a valid pass issued by the commission.
