KUALA LUMPUR: Naza Quest Sdn Bhd will cease to distribute new Chevrolet vehicles from today.

Naza Corp Holdings Sdn Bhd group chief executive officer of automotive group Datuk Samson Anand George said the reason for the termination was a result of a brand rationalisation plan under the group’s overall corporate strategy to create long-term sustainability and profitability.

“We will continue to focus on our other four- and two-wheel brands. The Naza Group will maximise its complete automotive line-up and explore other business opportunities to expand its market share in the automotive industry,” he added in a joint statement yesterday.

Samson said while sales of new Chevrolet vehicles will be temporarily put on hold, the majority of Chevrolet dealerships will remain open during this transition to meet the aftersales needs of Chevrolet customers.

Naza will also continue to provide warranty and aftersales service for existing Chevrolet customers until the appointment of a new Chevrolet distributor under an agreement with General Motors (GM).

GM general director for Southeast Asia Vanchana Unakul said GM and Chevrolet remain committed to Malaysia, with strong growth potential and a loyal fan base in this important regional market.

“Chevrolet will resume sales of its vehicle portfolio in Malaysia as soon as possible and is in advanced discussions with potential new partners. A new master distributor partner will be announced as soon as possible,” he added.
