KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 2): MyTOWN Shopping Centre — the newest mall jointly developed by Boustead Holdings Bhd and Ikano Pte Ltd — has fixed its grand opening date on Feb 16.

In a statement today, MyTOWN said it is expecting 28 million visitors next year, with 2 million footfalls in its first month of operation alone.

The mega mall, which is located on Jalan Cochrane here, is capable of housing over 400 stores in its 1.1 million sq ft net lettable space and boasts the new IKEA Cheras as its anchor tenant.

"The design of the building, the tenants mix, the facilities and services are all carefully thought out to give the shoppers a 'Customer Journey' that will make them want to come back to MyTOWN again and again," said MyTOWN director Datuk Koo Hock Fee.

The shopping centre is reachable to 5 million shoppers within a 30-minute drive radius.

According to MyTOWN general manager Joakim Hogsander, the mall had taken a structured approach in crafting the customer experience it wishes for them to experience by identifying their needs and eliminating "pain points", which were then incorporated into the design flow.

"To create a more welcoming and relaxing ambience, our shopping centre is equipped with soundscapes compositions, which I can assure you that no other shopping centres in KL have done it before.

"Apart from having the biggest IKEA store in Malaysia as our anchor tenant, we pride ourselves on being a responsible company as we're awarded with the status of Green building by the US Green Building Council's (USGBC) LEED and Malaysian Green Building Index," he added.

The shopping centre will be directly linked to Maju Expressway (MEX) and the soon-to-be-completed Cochrane Underground MRT station, the statement further read.
