KUALA LUMPUR (June 20): MyEG Services Bhd's associate company has inked a preliminary agreement seeking to be a payment processor and payment gateway business enterprise for offshore transactions in the Philippines' Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Freeport.

The associate I-Pay MyEG Philippines Inc signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority on Monday.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, MyEG said the MoU was to allow IPMPI to register as a Financial Technology Solutions Business Enterprise license applicant, to enable it to offer the said services.

“The MoU shall form the basis of consensus of the parties to examine the feasibility of the undertaking, until such time an approval is to be granted by CEZA conditional upon IPMPI,” it said

CEZA is a government-owned and controlled corporation in the Philippines to manage and develop a self-sustaining, commercial, financial, investment and tourism/recreational center and freeport.

MyEG's shares closed 2 sen or 2.04% higher at RM1 yesterday, giving it a market capitalisation of RM3.59 billion.
