KUALA LUMPUR (April 19): General insurer MSIG Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd (MSIG Malaysia), a subsidiary of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co Ltd, will be providing its travel insurance customers with a refund of their insurance premium if they decide to cancel their travel plans due to the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14).

In a statement today, MSIG Malaysia said customers who decide to cancel their travel plans because the polling day (May 9) falls within their period of outbound travel will be eligible for a full premium refund.

"MSIG is also offering customers the option of changing their travel date without charging any additional premium, if they decide to postpone their travel to a new date within 90 days of the original travel date.

"However, additional premium will still be charged if the customer extends the length of the trip or changes the destination although this depends on the geographical location of the new destination," it added.

Customers who wish to make any changes to their travelling plans are advised to contact MSIG by May 7.
