(Nov 16): Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo's motion to the Dewan Rakyat speaker to set aside the six-month suspension of DAP leader Lim Kit Siang from the House has been entered into the order paper today.

The motion is, however, the last item in the line-up for this sitting of the Dewan Rakyat and is unlikely to be debated.

It is the 32nd item on the list, just below opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail's motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“That, according to Standing Order 43, read with Standing Order 99 of the Dewan Rakyat regulations, the House reviews and sets aside the decision of Deputy Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee, who allowed the motion to suspend Lim Kit Siang, Gelang Patah MP, from his service for 6 months to be debated without referring to the Rights and Privileges Committee, as according to the Standing Order 80A,” the motion read.

Gobind had previously said the motion was filed because due procedure was not adhered in the decision to suspend Lim on Oct 22.

He said Standing Order 80A should have been followed in Lim's case, which meant that Lim should have been referred to the rights and privileges committee, instead of the motion to suspend him being tabled in Parliament.

Gobind himself has been suspended from the Dewan Rakyat previously, along with other opposition lawmakers like PKR's Padang Serai MP N Surendran.

They were also issued six-month suspensions in the same manner as Lim without being referred to the rights and privileges committee.

Lim was suspended after he made a remark implying that Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia had “sabotaged” the Public Accounts Committee's (PAC) probe into 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
