KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 5): Green Ocean Corp Bhd has appointed Mohd Yusri Md Yusof, who emerged as a substantial shareholder with a 10.03% stake on Nov 22, as executive director of the company with immediate effect.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Green Ocean said Yusri, 47, was formerly the managing director (MD) of Propel Bhd and Cement Industries of Malaysia Bhd (CIMA).

He started his career in 1993 in the banking and financial services industry with stints in The Pacific Bank Bhd and EON Bank Group Bhd. In 2001, he joined UEM Group Bhd as deputy senior manager of group internal audit and subsequently rose through the ranks to assume the role of chief audit executive in 2004 and head of improvement and assurance services division in 2008. In 2010, he was appointed as the head of corporate performance.

He was the MD of Propel, a post he assumed on March 1, 2011. He was appointed as the MD of CIMA on Aug 1, 2012 and the chairman of The Cement & Concrete Association of Malaysia until October 2017.

In a separate filing, Green Ocean said Fong Shin Ni, 43, has been appointed independent and non-executive director of the company.

Green Ocean shares closed unchanged at 16 sen today, with 25,000 shares done, bringing a market capitalisation of RM46.35 million.
