KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 3): Mohd Bakke Salleh, the managing director of Sime Darby Plantation, is slated to be named as chairman of the government agency responsible for development of palm oil industry, according to news portal.

Citing an unnamed person familiar with the matter, the Nikkei Markets today reported that Bakke has accepted the offer at the Malaysian Palm Oil Board.

It said he is expected to replace current chairman Ahmad Hamzah whose term ends Aug. 31.

The report added that the appointment is one of the latest management and board reshuffling at government-linked companies and agencies in Malaysia following a shock electoral victory of the Pakatan Harapan coalition led by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
