KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 4): Malaysia had today appointed Datuk Seri Mohamad Fuzi Harun as Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Bernama reported.

Mohamad Fuzi, 58, succeeds Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, who retires today, according to the report.

"Mohamad Fuzi joined the Royal Malaysia Police on Jan 8, 1984, as a cadet ASP (assistant superintendent of police) at Pulapol. He served as acting Deputy IGP for two months in 2014," Bernama reported.

Pulapol is the acronym for Pusat Latihan Polis or Police Training Centre.

It was reported that the IGP duty-handover ceremony took place today at the Police Training Centre here. Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi witnessed the event.
