KUALA LUMPUR: MISC Bhd’s 51%-owned joint venture (JV) with PetroVietnam Technical Services Corp has won a time charter contract to lease a floating storage and offloading vessel (FSO) for US$176 million (RM735 million).

Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd will lease the FSO for seven years, with the charter expected to commence by mid-2020, MISC said in a filing.

It added that upon conversion of the vessel, the FSO will be deployed for the Sao Vang and Dai Nguyet Development Project in Blocks 05-1b and 05-1c offshore Vietnam.

PetroVietnam is a member of Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and is primarily involved in the supply of technical services to the oil and gas industry in Vietnam.

MISC said the contract is not expected to have any material impact on the earnings, gearing and net assets per share of the group for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2018.

MISC shares closed down five sen or 0.84% at RM5.91 yesterday, with a market capitalisation of RM26.38 billion.
