KUALA LUMPUR: The home ministry said it does not yet wish to reveal the status of its investigation and planned action in relation to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

“The police are still pursuing investigation into 1MDB. The ministry does not intend to disclose the status of the matter as it is likely to affect the ongoing investigation carried out by the police.

“The government has set up a separate committee headed by former attorney-general Tan Sri Abu Talib Osman to look into the problems involving 1MDB,” the ministry said in a written parliamentary reply to a question from Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir (Pakatan Harapan-Johor Baru).

The ministry also noted that there is now a special task force investigating 1MDB, which is jointly led by another former attorney-general, Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, along with former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed, current MACC chief commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull and former Special Branch deputy director Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador.
