KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 1): Transport Minister Anthony Loke has advised those who feel that the Malaysian female flight attendants’ uniforms are inappropriate to look away.

"If you think their uniforms are too revealing, just don't look at them," Loke said in the Dewan Rakyat today.

He said the Government has no intention of ordering changes to the uniforms as long as they fulfill the safety criteria imposed by the Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia and International Civil Aviation Organization.

Loke’s statement, however, did not satisfy some Opposition lawmakers.

Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff (PAS-Rantau Panjang) complained that she has been getting such a response from the Government over the past decade.

Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali (PAS-Kuala Nerus), meanwhile, questioned the need for stewardesses to wear short skirts.

Loke, however, declined to allow further comments on the matter, and resumed his winding-up speech on the royal address.

He completed the address within 55 minutes, earning praise from deputy speaker Nga Kor Ming for “good time management”.
