KUALA LUMPUR (May 26): Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Bhd has won central bank approval for the appointment of Khazanah veteran Charon Wardini Mokhzani as its group managing director, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

* Charon, who left Khazanah in mid-May after nearly five years, is expected to join MIDF in July, the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is private

* He will replace Najib Abdullah, whose contract is ending, the people said

* A spokeswoman for MIDF declined to comment 

* A representative for the Malaysian central bank said it doesn’t comment on individual financial institutions

* Before joining Khazanah, Charon was head of CIMB’s investment bank
