KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysia Airlines (MAS) aircraft on a scheduled flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo late last night was delayed for almost two hours following a mishap involving a catering food truck on the taxiway at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang.

Flight MH88 to Narita, which was scheduled to leave at 11.35pm on Tuesday, departed at 1.10am yesterday. It is believed that the mishap involving the food truck had prevented the plane from taking off.

At press time, officials from MAS and the in-flight catering firm were tight-lipped about the mishap and were unable to give official confirmation on what took place. MAS head of strategic communications Datuk Najmuddin Abdullah confirmed that the flight was delayed and time was needed to clear up the food truck. When contacted, Brahim’s Airline Catering Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Ainul Hasnizam Abu Hassan told The Edge Financial Daily that the flight was delayed.
