KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 1): Mexter Technology Bhd is collaborating with Universiti Malaya (UM) a to establish a brand to develop and market fertility and other medical services to high-end fertility patients, including inbound patients from overseas.

For that purpose, Mexter’s wholly-owned unit LYC Medicare Sdn Bhd (LYCM) and UM’s medical unit Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMCC) today inked a five-year service and collaboration agreement to establish "LYC Fertility Centre".

Under the agreement, LYCM shall act as a service provider for the value-added non-clinical functions for the patients of LYC Fertility Centre, while UMMC will provide medical-related services, Mexter said in a statement today.

The agreement is in line with the its “current business direction and strategy” to venture deeper into healthcare services business segment.

LYCM is already operating a post-partum care business in Taman Tun Dr Ismail here, Mexter explained.

“LYCM will leverage on the operational and medical excellence of UMMC’s fertility treatment division and market its services by establishing a premium category of service under the branding of LYC Fertility Centre to potential customers seeking treatment for infertility.

“The company believes the establishment of LYC Fertility Centre will allow it to generate business synergies by referral of potential customers upon successful fertility treatments,” it said.

The contract comes with a five-year extension option, subject to fulfilment of certain performance-based requirements.

Mexter shares rose two sen or 4.6% to close at 45.5 sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM141.32 million.
