KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 18): Merge Energy Bhd has appointed Datuk Tengku Rozanna Petri Tengku Mohamed Nasrun as its independent and non-executive chairman, replacing Datuk Said Ali Said Rastan, who resigned on Feb 21 this year.

Tengku Rozanna was formerly with Boustead Curve Sdn Bhd as its head of human resource.

Prior to that, she was with Tradewinds Corp Bhd from 1995 to 2005, where she was involved in "a broad range of human resource and health and safety functions", according to Merge Energy in a Bursa Malaysia filing.

Separately, Merge Energy also appointed risk management expert Dr Badrul Hisham Mohd Yusoff as its independent and non-executive director.

According to the group, Badrul started his career as an auditor with Arthur Andersen & Co in 1997, where he served the firm for three years before joining plantations company Tradewinds (M) Bhd as an internal audit manager from 2001 to 2003.

Subsequently, he was with Affin Investment Bank Bhd, Chemical Company of Malaysia Bhd, Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd, Bursa Malaysia Bhd and Bank Rakyat as Chief Internal Auditor.

Shares of Merge Energy, a small-scale construction and property development company, slid half sen or 1.39% to 33.5 sen as at 3.09pm today.
