KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) yesterday announced the addition of Auto Commerz Sdn Bhd to its list of authorised dealer partners.

The German marque said RM10 million will be allocated in partnership with Auto Commerz for the development and expansion of the new dealer over the next two years.

Auto Commerz is an international dealer group backed by the Swire Group, a diversified global conglomerate with interests in property, aviation, marine services, food and beverages, and trading and industrial sectors for more than two centuries.

The conglomerate has experience in retail and distribution of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Taiwan, and will now also be catering to customers in the northeast region of Kuala Lumpur.

The Mercedes-Benz Auto Commerz Autohaus launched yesterday in Jalan Genting Kelang here is an interim facility with a designed capacity to showcase four showroom vehicles with official Mercedes-Benz accessories and merchandise, as well as financial services from Mercedes-Benz Services Malaysia.

Eric Khoo, dealer principal of Auto Commerz, said the company is working closely with MBM to identify a suitable location for a permanent facility, which is set to be unveiled in 2019.

“This [autohaus] is our first, and we are working together with the MBM team to identify potential for further expansion”, Khoo told reporters.

MBM president and chief executive officer Dr Claus Weidner said the group has 32 dealers nationwide now, maintaining its leadership position as the largest premium dealer network in Malaysia.

“We strongly believe that the introduction of this new dealer group in Malaysia will enable us to continue strengthening our brand presence in this country”, said Weidner, adding that the carmaker could leverage on Swire Group’s international presence, industry knowledge and experience.
