KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 28): Media Prima Bhd has appointed Johan Ishak as chief executive officer (CEO) of Media Prima Television Networks (MPTN) effective Oct 2.

Johan will oversee Media Prima’s TV3, ntv7, 8TV, TV9, tonton and the home-shopping business CJ Wow Shop. He will report to Media Prima’s group managing director (MD) Datuk Kamal Khalid.

In a statement today, Media Prima said Johan, 42, will be responsible for the overall operations of MPTN and will focus to strengthen its core businesses while pursuing new business opportunities in line with the group’s long-term growth strategies.

Prior to this, Johan was the CEO of MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd since 2012, a government investment arm for the promotion and entrepreneurship of the Malaysian creative industry.

Previously, Johan also served as general manager of group finance at Media Prima from 2009 to 2012. His other appointments include being auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu International and head of financial accounting at Petronas Group of Companies.

Apart from Johan, Media Prima also announced the appointment of Fan Chen Yip, 46, as head of key account management and media sales planning from Oct 16.

He will be responsible for driving the group’s key sales strategies to ensure sustainable revenue growth and will provide leadership and strategic direction for the group’s sales operations. He will report to Media Prima’s group MD.

Meanwhile, Alfian Talib, 41, has been appointed as chief commercial officer (CCO) of The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd (NSTP).

In his new role, Alfian will be overseeing the marketing, advertising sales and newspaper sales and distribution departments. He reports to the CEO of NSTP.

Media Prima shares closed up 1.5 sen or 1.9% at 80.5 sen apiece today, giving it a market value of RM892.92 million.
