KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 23): Ancom Bhd group managing director Datuk Dr Siew Ka Wei has bought another 268,000 shares in the company, raising his shareholding to 42.08 million shares for a 19.47% equity stake.

At end-October this year, his stake was 41.82 million shares or 19.34% of Ancom.

A filing with Bursa Malaysia today showed Siew started his "shopping spree" on Nov 11 by acquiring 45,000 shares for RM15,500, or about 34 sen apiece.

He then bought some 103,000 shares for RM60,100 through three separate transactions between Nov 12 and Nov 19.

Siew continued to bump up his stake in Ancom this month, with the purchase of 120,000 shares for RM48,400. The latest purchase was last Friday (Dec 19) when he acquired 5,000 shares at 44 sen each.

Shares of Ancom had been trading on a downward trend since July 21. The counter was traded at 70.5 sen on July 21,and retreated to 38.5 sen on Dec 16.

The stock closed today at 42.5 sen, down half a sen or 1.16%, with 81,800 shares done, giving it a market capitalisation of RM92.95 million.

Ancom’s net profit for the first financial quarter ended Aug 31, 2014 (1QFY15) plunged 71% to RM494,000, from RM1.68 million a year ago, on lower sales contribution from its agricultural and industrial chemicals division.

Revenue also dropped 15% to RM 414.25 million, from RM490.23 million previously.

According to theedgemarkets.com, Ancom's fundamental is rated at 0.55, valuation at 1.2 and volatility at 3.

Fundamental rating refers to the strength of the company's balance sheet, on a scale of 0-3, with 3 being the best score.

Valuation rating refers to the value of the stock in the capital market, on a scale of 0-3, with 3 suggesting the company gives higher than market average returns and is trading at a lower-than-average valuation.
