KUALA LUMPUR (July 31): Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) shares fell as much as four sen or 3% so far today after the financial services provider said yesterday second quarter net profit dropped to RM85.69 million from RM91.08 million a year earlier.

For the first half ended June 30, 2018 (1HFY18), MBSB said net profit rose to RM402.48 million from RM192.41 million a year earlier.

Today, MBSB shares at Bursa Malaysia fell to their lowest so far at RM1.11. At 9:56am, MBSB was traded at RM1.12 with about seven million shares changing hands.

"(MBSB's) 1HFY18 earnings slightly above expectations," MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Bhd analyst Danial Razak wrote in a note today.

"Earnings came in above ours and consensus expectations, accounting for 57.7% and 64% of full year estimates respectively," Danial said.
