KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Mazlin Md Junid has resigned as an executive director (ED) of oil and gas special purpose acquisition company, Reach Energy Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Reach Energy said although Mazlin had held the position of ED, he was not part of the company’s management team.

“As an ED, even on a part-time basis, Datuk Mazlin may be construed as a member of the management team. As such after discussions with members of the board, he (Mazlin) has decided to resign from the board,” said Reach Energy.

Mazlin joined Reach Energy on Aug 21 this year. He was formerly the executive vice-chairman, president and group chief executive officer of Daya Materials Bhd.

He was also a former independent non-executive director of Sapura Industrial Bhd, Sapura Technology Bhd and MTD Infraperdana Bhd, and is currently a director of several private limited companies.

He currently holds 11,000 shares in Reach Energy.

Shares in Reach Energy closed 1.59% lower at 62 sen yesterday, 17.33% below their initial public offering price of 75 sen on Aug 15, 2014. Its market capitalisation stood at RM792.25 million.
