KUALA LUMPUR (April 28): Maxwell International Holdings Bhd said it is unable to release its annual report for financial year ended Dec 31, 2016 (FY16) to Bursa Securities and its shareholders today.

It added that it would however, endeavour to do so by Sunday (April 30), which is a period not exceeding four months from the close of FY16, as required by Bursa Securities, or failing which, within the first week of May.

Maxwell blamed the delay to the fact it and external auditors, Messrs Baker Tilly Monteiro Heng, require additional time to review and finalise the annual report for FY16.

"The management in China is working closely with Messrs Baker Tilly Monteiro Heng to expedite the completion of Annual Report 2016," it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

If it still fails to submit the annual report, Bursa Securities will suspend trading of Maxwell securities on May 9.

Maxwell's share price ended the day 0.5 sen or 16.7% higher at 3.5 sen, valuing the group at RM13.96 million.
