KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 13): Pavilion Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) has been formally invited to participate in the ownership an ongoing development provisionally known as Pavilion Bukit Jalil here by Malton Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Pavilion REIT Management Sdn Bhd, which manages Pavilion REIT, said Pioneer Haven Sdn Bhd — a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malton — had on Aug 8 formally invited Pavilion REIT to participate in the ownership of the development, which comprises a retail mall with five levels of retail space and two levels of basement parking.

Today, MTrustee Bhd as trustee for Pavilion REIT had accepted the invitation for both parties to enter into a non-disclosure agreement to commence due diligence, discussions on method of participation and negotiate relevant terms and conditions.

Both Pavilion REIT and Malton are linked to property tycoon Tan Sri Desmond Lim Siew Choon, who is a substantial shareholder and chairman in both entities.

Pavilion REIT units closed down 1 sen to RM1.54 today, and for a market capitalisation of RM4.7 billion.
