KUALA LUMPUR (June 8): Malaysia's industrial production index likely rose 3.7% in April from a year ago, accelerating for the second month in a row, a Reuters poll showed.
Growth estimates among the 10 economists surveyed, however, ranged widely between 2.5% and 6.3%.
The index measures factory output from the manufacturing, electricity generation and mining sectors.
Factory output had risen 3.1% in March from a year earlier, up slightly from 3% in February, supported by gains in the manufacturing and electricity generation sectors.
Malaysia's export growth beat expectations in April, rising 14% year-on-year, on higher shipments of manufactured goods.
