KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 18): Malaysia recorded 388 Covid-19 related fatalities yesterday (Sept 17), up from 346 reported the day before.

According to Ministry of Health (MoH) data, this brought the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 22,743.

Of the 388 fatalities reported yesterday, 64 were brought-in-dead (BID), bringing the nation’s BID tally to 4,327.

Selangor reported the most Covid-19 deaths at 167 yesterday, followed by Johor (76), Kedah (48), Pulau Pinang (24), Sabah (22), Pahang and Kuala Lumpur respectively (12), Kelantan (10), Perak (seven), Terengganu (five), Perlis and Sarawak respectively (two), and Negeri Sembilan (one). 

For Covid-19 fatalities that were BID, Selangor also led with 32, followed by Johor (10), Sabah (eight), Pulau Pinang (six), Perak and Kuala Lumpur respectively (three), and Kelantan and Terengganu respectively (one).

In terms of deaths per 100,000 people, Pulau Pinang topped the list with 18 fatalities for every 100,00 people in the state, followed by Johor (12.3), Sabah (8.9), Kedah (7.9) and Perlis (7.5).

Meanwhile, the national average stood at 6.6 deaths for every 100,000 people.
