KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 3): Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association (MAIA) and Indonesia Aircraft Component Manufacturer Association (INACOM) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at developing aerospace capabilities and growing business opportunities in the region.

It is the first MoU signed by MAIA and INACOM to further develop the aerospace industry. MAIA president Naguib Mohd Nor and INACOM president Andi Alisjahbana signed the MoU here, witnessed by Malaysia External Trade Development Corp representatives.

In a statement today, Naguib said both countries have explored the development of indigenous aircraft programmes and through these, have established themselves as key producers of aircraft components for companies such as Airbus and Boeing.

Naguib said both countries exported aircraft components like wings, empennages and fuselages that are used for single-aisle Airbus A320, Boeing 737 as well as the larger twin-aisles Airbus A350 and Boeing 787.
