KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 28): Following the interest expressed by US companies to invest in Malaysia yesterday, Malaysia have also attracted another large economy –the UK as a bilateral meeting was held between the Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and UK’s Prime Minister Theresa May.

In a twiiter post from his handle @chedetofficial eatier today, Dr Mahathir said he had received a courtesy visit by May yesterday to discuss various issues of mutual benefit, ranging from investments, security and improving relations between both countries.

In an earlier tweet, the prime minister said one of the intimate sessions he attended in New York was the roundtable discussion yesterday with top American companies - Chubb Ltd, FedEx Express, ConocoPhillips, Coca-Cola, Western Union, Eastman Chemical Company, etc. This meeting was to promote investments in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported yesterday that a former US-ASEAN Business Council founder Ernest Z. Bower said Malaysia remained an attractive investment destination for companies in the US due to certain advantages, adding that Americans would likely be investing in the finance and manufacturing sectors.

“Our intention is to make the US as the top two foreign investors in Malaysia," said Bower.

Bower, who is President and Chief Executive Officer of Bower Group Asia, led a delegation of 12 companies in a roundtable meeting with the prime minister to discuss the opportunities in Malaysia, as well as to hear from Dr Mahathir about the changes in policies made by his new government.
