PUTRAJAYA (Feb 1): Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Chairman Tan Sri Samsudin Osman leads the list of 370 recipients of federal awards and medals in conjunction with the Federal Territories Day today.

Former Chief Secretary to the Government and former Putrajaya Corporation president was conferred the Seri Utama Mahkota Wilayah (SUMW) which carries the title ‘Datuk Seri Utama’.

A total of 22 individuals are conferred the Seri Mahkota Wilayah (SMW) which carries the title ‘Datuk Seri’ namely, Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan; Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Razali Ibrahim, Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M. Saravanan, National Association of Wives of Civil Servants and Women Civil Servants (Puspanita) president Puan Seri Rohani Abdullah and Prime Minister's Department’s senior deputy secretary-general Datuk Mohd Zuki Ali.

Other SMW recipients include Health deputy director-general (Medical) Datuk Dr Jeyaindran Sinnadurai, Public Private Partnership Unit director-general Datuk Ahmad Husni Hussain, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deputy chief commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki, principal private secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Wira Iskandar Mohd Kaus and Public Project Implementation Unit chief executive officer Datuk Nazirruddin Abd Rahman.

Other recipients are Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd, Kuala Lumpur Police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim, Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall president Datuk Dr Chai Kee Kan, former Selangor state executive councillor Datuk Ch’ng Toh Eng, the New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Abdul Hamid.

Other SMW recipients also include Rotol Group of Companies managing director Datuk Chua Kah Seng, Maxim Holdings Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Gan Seong Liam, Malaysia Lim Chamber of Commerce’s Datuk Lim Ah Nge, Repsol Oil and Gas Malaysia Limited’s Datuk Rahim Ismail, Segambut UMNO Division chief Datuk Kamarudin Ambok, Federal Territory MCA liaison chairman Datuk Yew Teong Look and Platinum Victory Development Sdn Bhd managing director Gan Yu Chai.

Federal Territories Ministry’s Socio-Economic Division secretary Muhammad Azmi Mohd Zain is among 69 individuals conferred the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW) award which carries the title ‘Datuk’. Also receiving the PMW award are Prime Minister’s Department Research Division deputy director-general II (Analysis) Khairul Shahril Idrus; Federal Territories Minister’s political secretary Mohd Rafi Alli Hassan; Labuan Corporation chief executive officer Azhar Ahmad; Kuala Lumpur High Court Judge Datin Azizah Nawawi and Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (Mardi) director-general Dr Mohamad Roff Mohd Noor.

Other PMW recipients are Kampung Bharu Masjid Jamek imam Dr Mohammad Idris Mohammad Ismail Almashrafe; Persatuan Kebajikan Intelek Kuala Lumpur and Selangor’s preachers Norhafizah Moslems and Sohrab Nasodari Nariman; as well as Permata Seni Choir vocal master and conductor Syafinaz Selamat.

Bandar Tun Razak UMNO Division women chief Salmah Pin; Labuan UMNO Division permanent chairman Abdul Rahman Lamudian; Labuan United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut (UPKO) Division chief Ronald James Majaing and Parti Punjabi Malaysia’s Gurjeet Singh Chanan Singh are listed among the recipients of the PMW award for the political organisations category that include five other individuals.

They are A. Anatharatchagan from the Indian Progressive Front (IPF); S Jivarajan (Malaysia Makkal Sakti Party); Lee Sung Choy (Gerakan); G Sankaranarayanan and Simon Suresh V Varunamegam, from Malaysian Indian United Party and People’s Progressive Party (MyPPP) respectively. 

For statutory bodies, agencies and companies, the recipients of PMW award are Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) council member Nazir Hussin Akhtar Hussin; National Sports Council Sports Management’s Firmansyah Aang Muhamad; Skyworld Development Sdn Bhd deputy group managing director Lam Soo Keong @ Low Soo Keong; Lembaga Tabung Haji chief operating officer Adi Azuan Abdul Ghani and Asian Supply Base Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Harris Annuar Tan.

Also receiving the PMW award are Indonesian businessman Kuntobowo Raijin Reksoseputro and Russian tourism ambassador and businessman Nargiz Safarova.

Meanwhile, Dewan Rakyat Speaker’s senior private secretary Ali Zulfakar Zainal Abidin; Ministry of Higher Education’s Professionalism Excellence Department’s director Mohamad Amin Hamat; Kuala Lumpur City Hall Corporate Planning Department director Khalid Zakaria and Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) finance secretary Ja’apar Mansor are among the 39 individuals who received the Johan Mahkota Wilayah (JMW) award.

In addition, 71 individuals are conferred the Kesatria Mahkota Wilayah (KMW)), 74 individuals receive the Ahli Mahkota Wilayah (AMW)) and 94 individuals (Pangkuan Mahkota Wilayah or PPW).

Four national athletes who contributed gold medals during the 2017 SEA Games and the 2017 Kuala Lumpur ASEAN Para Games are also awarded with the PPW award, namely, Muhammad Rafiq Ismail for bowling, Aaliyah Yoong Hanifah (waterski), Mohd Qabil Ambak (equestrian) and Faridul Masri (athletics).

In addition, Kosmo Putrajaya Bureau assistant chief Junhairi Alyasa, Harian Metro Putrajaya Bureau chief Hayati Ibrahim and Utusan Malaysia’s City Desk chief Roslah Othman receive the AMW medal while two other media personnel, V. Raman Kutty (Makkal Osai) and Mohd Fadli Hamzah (News Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad) receive the PPW medal.

Two individuals with disabilities namely, Silatul Rahim Dahman from the Malaysian Foundation for the Blind receives the KMW medal while Ong Shin Ruenn from the Malaysian Deaf Sports Association receives the PPW medal, due their continuous cooperation with the Federal Territories Ministry to successfully implement programmes involving the disabled community especially in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement, Federal Territories Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Adnan Md Ikshan said the investiture ceremony would be graced by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V at the Istana Negara, Jalan Duta in Kuala Lumpur today.

He also said the conferment of federal awards and medals in conjunction with the Federal Territories Day which began in 2008 was aimed at appreciating and recognising the deeds, contributions and excellent services of individuals towards the Federal Territories.
