KUALA LUMPUR (July 31): Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd's (MAHB) net profit rose 614% to RM66.93 million in the second quarter ended June 30, 2017 (2QFY17) from RM9.38 million a year earlier as revenue increased on passenger growth.

MAHB told Bursa Malaysia today that revenue increased to RM1.1 billion from RM997.6 million. MAHB declared a dividend of five sen a share for 2QFY17.

"The passenger traffic for airports operated by MAHB in Malaysia for the current quarter under review increased by 13.8% to 23.9 million passengers as compared to the corresponding quarter last year of 21.0 million passengers.

"The passenger traffic for ISGIA for the current quarter under review increased by 4.0% to 7.8 million passengers as compared to the corresponding quarter last year of 7.5 million passengers," MAHB said.

ISGIA stands for Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in Turkey.

For the cumulative six-month period (6MFY17), MAHB said net profit climbed to RM128.94 million from RM26.39 million a year earlier while revenue rose to RM2.19 billion from RM2.02 billion.

At 12:30pm today, MAHB shares fell four sen or 0.5% to settle at RM8.70 with 187,300 shares traded. At RM8.70, MAHB has a market capitalisation of RM14.44 billion.
