KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 10): Starting Jan 1, 2020, Malaysia Airlines Bhd will be increasing its flight frequency from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing to 10 times a week, from seven currently, due to relocation of operations to Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) from Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK).

In a statement today, Malaysia Airlines said it will incorporate additional flights on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

MH318 will depart daily from Kuala Lumpur at 0:40am and arrive in Beijing Daxing at 7:00am; the daily return service MH319 will depart from Beijing Daxing at 9:30am and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 4:00pm.

The additional frequency, MH364, will depart Kuala Lumpur at 2:30pm and arrive in Beijing Daxing at 8:50pm; the return service MH365 will depart from Beijing Daxing at 9:55pm and arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 4:25am. All flights are scheduled to arrive at China on the same day as the departure.

Malaysia Airlines group chief executive Izham Ismail said the opening of this new gateway gives Malaysia Airlines the opportunity to begin a new chapter in the long history it has with Beijing.

"While we had great success with operating the route from Beijing Capital International Airport, moving to the new, ground-breaking Daxing airport will provide us the opportunity to expand and grow further into Beijing in the future.

"It will enhance the travel experience and comfort levels of our passengers with the airport's state-of-the-art facilities, and will facilitate better connectivity with our other airline partners." he said.

He said that this development is in line with Malaysia Airlines' commitment in providing greater service and better offerings to passengers in their travels.

Malaysia Airlines said this increase in flight frequency is its strategic development process to strengthen its position as a key full service carrier operating into China.

As Malaysia Airlines views China as an expanding market, it is looking to capture new opportunities by growing sustainable connectivity into the country either through more direct flights or via partnerships with key Chinese carriers, said Izham.
