KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 3): The chief operating officer (COO) of independent power producer Malakoff Corp Bhd, Habib Husin, has been redesignated as the group’s executive vice president of operations, with immediate effect.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Malakoff said Habib, 55, was the group’s COO since October 2010 prior to the redesignation. Before that, he was the group's senior vice president of its management division between April 2006 to October 2010.

He holds some 360,000 shares in Malakoff pursuant to the initial public offering (IPO) of shares in the company.

In a separate filing, Shaharul Farez Hassan, who is chief executive officer (CEO) of tycoon Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Albukhary’s Tradewinds Corp Bhd since January 2008, has also been appointed as Malakoff’s executive vice-president, effective today.

Prior to that, he was the CEO of Tradewinds Hotels & Resorts Sdn Bhd between December 2005 and December 2008.

Tradewinds Corp was delisted from Bursa in September 2013 following the privatisation of the company.

As at 2.03pm, Malakoff was down 3 sen or 1.73% at RM1.70, giving it market capitalisation of RM8.5 billion. Listed on May 15, the stock spiked at RM1.87 on June 05, but has been largely trading below its IPO price since.
