KUALA LUMPUR(Aug 2): Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd hit an intraday and record high of RM9.62 today since listing on Bursa Malaysia in 1999.

MAHB closed up 0.84% to RM9.56 for a market capitalisation of RM15.83 billion.

It has gained RM1.6 billion in value since June 28 when it was trading at RM8.70.

In a bourse filing today on the legal action initiated by Syarikat Pembinaan Anggerik Sdn Bhd (SPASB), the airports operator said that the Federal Court had on Aug 1 dismissed MAHB’s application for leave to appeal to the Federal Court, with cost.

Pursuant to this decision, it said the case would now be heard in the High Court instead of arbitration.

On April 19 last year, MAHB received a legal claim from SPASB for RM43.99 million and other damages and interest in respect of losses and damages pertaining to development and upgrading works at Penang International Airport.

On another note, AirAsia Group chief executive officer  Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said he is confident the Government will allow for the set-up of three low-cost carrier terminals (LCCTs) in the country.

In a tweet, Fernandes said that this follows a meeting he had with Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, Transport Minister Anthony Loke and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) acting group CEO Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin, which the AirAsia boss had described as "great".
