KUALA LUMPUR (July 19): Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said it will be launching an investigation on its contractor doing rectification works to the water pipe supply near AirAsia Group Bhd's headquarters, which accidentally caused damage to the fibre optic cable at noon today.

"While this has caused interruption to the communications system at RedQ, it has not caused any disruption to the communication systems at the KLIA Main Terminal and klia2," MAHB said in a media statement today.

RedQ referred to AirAsia's HQ.

MAHB said it had provided the contractor with both the Single Line and Cable Routing Diagrams prior to the commencement of the water pipe rectification work.

"We regret this unfortunate incident, but we are working closely with the contractor to ensure that rectification works is completed as soon as possible. Work had started at 4.30pm today and is expected to complete by 7pm," it added, noting that MAHB will provide further updates on the progress.

Meanwhile, MAHB said it is also working the flight operations at AirAsia to ensure the incident will not cause any flight delays.

"AirAsia flight operations at klia2 have confirmed the same, that there has been no flight delays caused by the incident so far," it added.
