(Nov 19): Malaysia's anti-graft agency said it did not need Interpol's help to locate SRC International Sdn Bhd executives for its probe into the Finance Ministry-owned company and the RM2.6 billion fund in the prime minister's accounts.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said it had already recorded the statement of SRC International's Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil, and was arranging meetings with two others to assist in investigations.

"In regards to two other individuals who are required by the commission to assist in the investigation, MACC has already contacted them and efforts are being taken to meet them in due time to have their statement recorded.

"Thus, the MACC do not require the assistance of the police and Interpol to locate the individuals," it said in a statement today.

MACC's statement did not name the individuals it was in touch with, but besides Nik Faisal, the other SRC International executive who was known to be under probe is director Datuk Suboh Md Yassin.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali recently told The Malaysian Insider in an interview that MACC had already questioned Nik Faisal and Suboh.

However, MACC chief Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed said investigations into SRC could only be completed at year-end if it could get hold of the two directors, whom he said were overseas.

MACC's statement today comes after Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said in a parliamentary reply that Interpol has not traced Nik Faisal, Suboh and three others because it has received no request to do so, since Malaysian police have not opened probes into these people.

SRC International had been in the spotlight for taking a RM4 billion loan from the Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) but has denied that such money was misappropriated.

It was also named as the originating company of a portion of the RM2.6 billion funds that ended up in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's personal bank accounts, according to The Wall Street Journal in a July report that was based on information from Malaysian investigators. – The Malaysian Insider
