PUTRAJAYA (May 22): Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull said the MACC will record statements from one to two more important witnesses besides former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to facilitate investigations on alleged corruption in 1Malaysia Development Bhd's (1MDB) former subsidiary SRC International Sdn Bhd.

Mohd Shukri said in his first media briefing here today as the MACC's new chief commissioner that the agency had continued to record statements from Najib after the MACC found new evidence under its SRC probe. Mohd Shukri said Najib will not be arrested today. 

Mohd Shukri said: “One to two more important witnesses must be called with regard to the SRC case, before we can press charges.” 

“1MDB is not a fairytale, it is a true story. Our findings are almost similar as the DOJ’s (The United States Department of Justice). I almost died investigating SRC International," Mohd Shukri said.  

Mohd Shukri claimed his life was threatened as he was trailed in Washington, D.C. in the US.
