JOHOR BAHRU (Jan 29): Laman Serene Johor Darul Takzim, which was launched yesterday, is perceived to be yet another tourist attraction icon in the state.

The park was officially launched by Johor State Secretary Datuk Azmi Rohani, representing the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, who arrived at the grounds of the Istana Bukit Serene arch at 8 pm and was greeted by Datuk Bandar Majlis Bandaraya Johor Bahru (MBJB) Amran A. Rahman.

Laman Serene, located next to Jalan Skudai, is perceived to be one of the transformations to the development of the urban landscape and the green area besides giving added value to the state’s economy.

The park was also developed for the purpose of adding the state’s tourism destinations besides giving space for recreation and family activities especially for the whole community in the state of Johor.

Amran said the development of Laman Serene was a continuation of the development of Laman Mahkota and Laser Fountain inspired personally by the Sultan of Johor. “The name of the park had also been consented to by Tuanku as it is located opposite Istana Bukit Serene.

“It is hoped that the new icon for the state of Johor can raise the socio-cultural value among the community and becomes one of the icons that will be the pride of Johor state,” he told reporters after the official launching of the park here yesterday.
