KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 28): The FBM KLCI is seen staying above the 1,700-point level today, in line with the gains at global markets last Friday.

Wall Street indexes rose and bond yields followed stocks higher on Friday after U.S. President Donald Trump announced an agreement to end the longest ever U.S. government shutdown and as investors reacted to corporate earnings reports, according to Reuters.

But the dollar index, which fell from a three-week high hit on Thursday, held onto losses after the news on the shutdown as traders eyed next week's Federal Reserve meeting for insight on whether policy makers will continue to take a cautious tone on the interest rate path this year, it said.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 183.96 points, or 0.75 percent, to 24,737.2, the S&P 500 gained 22.43 points, or 0.85 percent, to 2,664.76, and the Nasdaq Composite added 91.40 points, or 1.29 percent, to 7,164.86, said Reuters.

Based on corporate announcements and news flow last Friday, companies that may be in focus today may include the following: Rohas Technic Bhd, Suiwah Corp Bhd, EcoFirst Consolidated Bhd, Vortex Consolidated Bhd, MNRB Holdings Bhd, Perusahaan Sadur Timah Malaysia and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd.
