KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 2): The FBM KLCI staged a mild technical rebound at mid-morning on Tuesday, in line with the gains at most regional markets.

At 10.07am, the FBM KLCI gained 6.80 points to 1,785.07.

The top gainers included Petronas Dagangan Bhd, United Plantations Bhd, UMW Holdings Bhd, UMW Oil & Gas Corporation Bhd, Gamuda Bhd, Yinson Holdings Bhd, Hume Industries Bhd, Petronas Gas Bhd and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd.

Minetech Resources Bhd was the most actively traded counter with 32.56 million shares done. The stock fell 3.85% or half a sen to 12.5 sen.,

The other actives included KNM Group Bhd, Bumi Armada Bhd, Sumatec Resources Bhd, IFCA MSC Bhd and Dialog Group Bhd.

The decliners included Brotish American Tobacco (M) Bhd, Lafarge Malaysia Bhd, Hong Leong Bank Bhd, Adventa Bhd and IHH Healthcare Bhd.

JF Apex Securities Research said U.S. stocks declined overnight with the Nasdaq Composite falling for the first session in seven, as a lackluster start to the holiday shopping season mostly overrode data that had a measure of U.S. factory activity slowing less than expected in November.

Similarly, it said European shares closed lower with the falling price of major commodities weighing heavily on the mining and energy sectors.

“On the local market, the FBM KLCI plunged 42.62 points to 1778.27 points.

“Immediate outlook is bearish and the index could retest the critical support of 1765 points,” it said.
