KUALA LUMPUR (March 31): The FBM KLCI gained 0.48% at mid-morning today and looks set on course for a firm end to the first quarter of 2015.

At 10.01am, the FBM KLCI rose 8.82 points to 1,830.65.

The top gainers included British American Tobacco (M) Bhd, United Plantations Bhd, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd, Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd, Public Bank Bhd, UMW Holdings Bhd and RHB Capital Bhd.

The top actives included Nova MSC Bhd, Pribavasia Technology Bhd,Wintoni Group Bhd, Sumatec Resources Bhd, Ingenuity Consolidated Bhd, Takaso Resources Bhd and Systech Bhd.

The decliners included Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Sarawak Oil Palms Bhd, Rapid Synergy Bhd, The Star Publications (M) Bhd, Latitude Tree Holdings Bhd and Guiness Anchor Bhd.

Asian stocks rose on Tuesday after a rally on Wall Street and steps by China to shore up its economy boosted risk appetite, while Greek debt worries again haunted the sagging euro, according to Reuters.

Tracking overnight gains in U.S. shares, MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was up 0.4 percent. Japan's Nikkei added 0.9 percent and Australian shares rose 1.3 percent, it said.

Hong Leong IB Research said the FBM KLCI may inch higher today given the last day of 1Q window dressing and a strong Dow overnight close.

“Key resistances are 1831-1843 levels whilst supports fall on 1800-1811,” it said.
