KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 17): The FBM KLCI started the week on a weaker footing and fell 0.93% in early trade, tracking the cautious regional markets.

At 9.05am, the FBM KLCI lost 15.44 points to 1,656.52.

The top losers included Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd, British American Tobacco (M) Bhd, Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd, V.S. Industry Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd. Petronas Gas Bhd, ViTrox Corp Bhd, Genting Plantations Bhd, Hong Leong Bank Bhd and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd.

Asian share markets started the week on a cautious footing on Monday after weak economic data from China and Europe added to evidence of cooling global growth and reinforced anxiety over the impact of international trade frictions on business and profits, according to Reuters.

MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was little changed while Japan's Nikkei was up 0.1 percent in early trade. U.S. stock futures were also almost flat, it said.
