KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 28): The FBM KLCI is expected to edge higher today on window-dressing activities on the final trading day of the third quarter, in line with the overnight gains at Wall Street.

The US dollar held near a one-week high against a basket of major currencies on Thursday following a hike in US interest rates, while a robust economy and surging shares of Apple Inc and Amazon.com Inc boosted the US stock market, according to Reuters.

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday raised rates for the third time this year, indicating its confidence in the US economy, it said.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 93 points, or 0.35%, to 26,478.28; the S&P 500 gained 12.64 points, or 0.43%, to 2,918.61; and the Nasdaq Composite added 62.23 points, or 0.78%, to 8,052.60, said Reuters.

Based on corporate announcements and news flow yesterday, companies in focus today may include: Axiata Group Bhd, FGV Holdings Bhd, KIP Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), Daya Materials Bhd, Malaysia Smelting Corp Bhd, Kim Loong Resources Bhd, Crescendo Corp Bhd, Hiap Teck Venture Bhd, Harrisons Holdings (Malaysia) Bhd, AWC Bhd, Perisai Petroleum Teknologi Bhd and Tropicana Corp Bhd.
